Sheffield University 31st July - 5th August 2017ringingweek

The 11th National Residential Ringing Week will be returning to the wonderful Sheffield University for another exciting week of handbell ringing. The week brings together learning a set of music with some of the world's best conductors, and having a fun holiday with friends new and old. The music is accessible, with possibly a few challenges along the way!

For the 11th edition, we shall be bringing in the main man of the Singapore music scene, Damien Lim, a 3rd visit for one of the most enjoyable advanced conductors in America, Michael Glasgow and our very own maestro, Helen Secker.

The week Monday 31st July – Saturday 5th August 2017 takes place at ‘The Edge’, a purpose built conference facility situated in the middle of the Sheffield Universities student accommodation known as ‘The Endcliffe Village’.

Register at the HRGB Events Website

With your 2017 Membership Cards you will receive an order form for copies of the winning compositions. These are FREE and will be available in whatever range you need – one copy per Member – with further copies being available at £1 each for use by non-members in your group.

You can download audio files of the two pieces to help you rehearse them.

Come for a Day

Come for either day (or both) – day visitors are most welcome!

Saturday will start with the HRGB AGM followed by workshops with lots of hands-on ringing.

Saturday evening will feature a Concert open to the public.

Sunday will start with a short service of thanksgiving for HRGB’s 50 years and will be followed by a traditional style rally and massed ringing plus a few showcase’ items. The finalists of the Music Composition and Arrangement Competitions will be announced.

You can choose whether you would like to join us for the Saturday evening dinner and concert or for Sunday lunch.

We hope that trade stands will be there as usual. Free car parking opposite the Great Hall.

Come for the Weekend
Enjoy the weekend by staying on site. Arrive Friday evening and join us for a barbeque and social evening including ad hoc ringing, a quiz and anything else we can think of! Exeter University has offered us excellent accommodation (all rooms have double beds so nonringers are welcome to bring a partner) in a modern building about 500 metres from the main centre of activity. Transport will be provided for those unable to walk.

Come for Longer
Those staying for the weekend are welcome to extend their visit after the rally to spend time exploring Exeter, nearby Dartmoor or the Devon coast. You can stay on at Exeter university for the special rate of just £10 per person per night bed and breakfast!
